Teacher Notes
The website is structured so that each task builds on and develops students' knowledge and skills about creative writing. Students work sequentially through the modules within this website independently from home. To support students' learning this website is designed to be used in conjunction with in-class activities. The website draws directly from the NSW Board of Studies 'Prescriptions: Area of Study Electives and Texts', specifically Outcome 7 of the syllabus. Here are direct links to both the syllabus and the perceptions list:
Teacher Instructions
1. Model for students in class how to access, use and post to the discussion board section of the website. Explain that the website is designed for them to develop their skills in creative writing from home, and the 4 tasks are compulsory. Ensure they are aware of 'netiquette' and complete the online form.
2. Notify students the week before each compulsory task is due for online submission. Allow time for questions, if students have any concerns about the tasks.
3. At the beginning of the lesson after a task has been submitted, project the Discussion Board section of this website at the front of the classroom, using an overhead projector or smart board.
4. Facilitate a discussion about students' experiences of completing the task, asking students to share what they found challenging or interesting. Refer to students' task submissions in the Discussion Board to prompt
discussion about the task, and to address any questions related to the creative writing section of the HSC.
We value your opinion. Please take the time to complete the poll below.
If you would like further support while using this website or have any questions about creative writing or Discovery, please contact website administration: Ms Morgan, Ms Biddolph, Mrs Van Heerden via the Discussion Board. Please post in the 'Welcome' thread.
